Description

Chateau Mont d’Almaz grape yards are grown on the terraces of Mount Lebanon at an altitude of 1260 meters. Our terroir overlooks the “Quadisha Valley” an UNESCO world heritage. This Chateau is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot with dark ruby-red color.

A Mix of Black Mature Fruit, Oak and Spicy Aromas that bring a beautiful complexity. Concentrated and Persistent Wine with very ripe tannins and fresh finish.

Following long Lebanese summers our grapes are hand harvested, sorted, and allowed to macerate at controlled temperatures for 15 to 20 days in stainless steel tanks depending on the taste. Fermentation starts solely on natural yeasts. After fermentation is complete the wine is pressed manually and transferred to large (100 hl) stainless steel tanks to spend the cold winter and allow the malolactic conversion to take place. Come spring the wine is transferred into French oak barrels where it slowly ages for a period of 12 to 24 month before bottling.

Our viticulture practice makes our wine organic and vegan where small doses of SO are added.

Chateau Saade

The story behind Mont D’alamaz

After living abroad for quite a while, the Saade’s returned to their native village. As wine lovers, they found that their family land had the best quality of soil, a perfect climate with dry summers and snowy winters. Essential requirements to produce a natural wine reflecting the mountain’s terroir.

It’s unique terroir of calcareous soil & ideal climate of sunny days and cold foggy nights are the prerequisites to obtain an exceptional wine.

The surrounding cedars, pine roses, figs and red fruits enhance the unctuous aromas, profound color and taste of Mont d’Almaz.

Mont d’Almaz Moutain Wines are produced in the pristine village of Beit Menzer located in Bcharre region, North Lebanon at an altitude of 1260 meters. The historic cave “Sheer Al dalmaz شير الدلماظ” faces the saade Vineyards in Qadisha Valley, a Unesco World Heritage.

Mont d’Almaz is a mature, elegant wine with personality

Awards

Chateau Mont d’Almaz 2008 was awarded ” the coup de coeur ” in 2008 by Zawak the well-known Lebanese wine guide. The Jury identified it as “a very good wine in a style that is easy to like for its elegance and poise. The nose combines fruits and vanilla-type aromas, showing subtle use of barrel ageing to frame the cassis style of fruit. This impression of juiciness is confirmed on the palate, accompanied all long by reminders of vanilla. The flavors are fresh and lingering.”

Mont D’Almaz Malbec 2017 was chosen by The Chef Sommelier a l’Hotel de Paris and Maitre Sommelier de France Mr. Patrice Frank who has visited as « coup de cœur wine »
